With effect from 1st April 2002 the legislation which governs the regulation of
all Care Homes (including Nursing Homes) changed. The Registered Homes Act 1984
was replaced by The Care Standards Act 2000 and a new regulatory body called
The Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) took over the previous registration and inspection
functions of the council.
